Today I got an email from Apple saying the warranty on my iPod nano was about to expire.  Do you know what this means to me?

It’s time to get an iPod touch. It will have a shiny new warranty. Think about it, it’s the perfect solution (and birthday present).

Change the game? January 21, 2009

Excuse me if this sounds like a CRAZY ramble. I’m working off of 2 hours of sleep.

Since I’ve been up for the the last 3 hours (yes I woke up at 4am) I thought it would be a good time reevaluate my life.   I’m feeling stuck, once again.  I feel like I need to DRASTICALLY change something, but I have no idea what to change.

And there lies my dilemma – I’m impatient and want to change everything, but that is in no way humanly possible (for me at least).

I’m open to suggestions on how to shake this stagnant feeling. And what I can do to totally change the game.

I kicks it old school January 18, 2009

Ok, I don’t. But I like the way it sounds.

I’ve been toying with the idea of becoming vegetarian for Lent this year. Last year I gave up way too much and set myself up for failure.  I tried but really didn’t try to stick to these goals.   So this year to redeem myself and show REAL self control I’ll be going semi-vegetarian. Here’s what I will not be eating: mammalian meat, poultry (excluding chicken and ground turkey), bottom feeding  fish, and shellfish.

I guess that will make me a mix between a Pollotarianism and a Pescetarianis.

I will also be trying my best to stay away from food that I’m allergic to: dairy (mostly milk) and  gluten (most breads and grains).

Lent starts Ash Wednesday (February 25th) and ends Holy Saturday (April 11th).  Wish me luck. December 11, 2008

Deconstructed Wedding Dress…a Saga December 6, 2008

Filed under: all about me!,things I must do — Dianna @ 12:30 pm

There are 3 facts that led to the saga of the deconstructed wedding dress: 1. I got married; 2. I got divorced; 3. I couldn’t sell or even give my wedding dress away- it  only fit me!

On Monday night as I was packing up my linens (I’m moving ya’ll!). I came across my wedding dress.  Although it is a very pretty dress, it wasn’t really my style.  But I kept it even after the divorce so I could make pillows out of it (or whatever else I managed to come up with).   In the mist of all the linens and the little boy running around I started to pull the seams out of my dress.

There was no liberating feeling.  There was no sadness.   There was only the pain I felt from poking myself with the seam ripper.  At first I was only going to remove the outer most layer of my dress.

But then I didn’t want to waste the rest of the fabric. So I continued to poke myself as I ripped away at the seams for the better part of a hour.

I’m finished for now.  My dress (minus the petticoat, I threw that away) is in 3 pieces on the floor of my bedroom. Any suggestions on what I should make out of it?  My seam ripper is ready for action.

Me cook? Sure, why not. November 27, 2008

Filed under: all about me!,in progress,manifesto,random,things I must do — Dianna @ 10:15 pm

Here are a few truths about Dianna:

-she loves shoes (see this post)

-she loves purses (see this post)

-she doesn’t like to cook (see the post you’re currently reading)

-she enjoys taking care of people

The last two truths have been getting in the way of each other. As I get into older age (the big 30 is around the corner) I find myself wanting to cook as a means of taking care of the people in my life.  But I don’t like to cook. It’s a long and sorted story as to why, but I would rather clean my house than cook. Clean toilets than cook. Hand wash dishes than cook. But something inside of me is saying, “Dianna, cook!” I hear it everyday now.  Little voice go away. Please!

I always get the question, “How do you feed your son if you don’t cook?”  And my answer always is, “I cook for him but not myself.” He’s 4 and really easy to cook for.  Me on the other hand, I’m not so easy to cook for.  I’m rather picky. I don’t really like chicken. I don’t like turkey (unless it’s smoked or ground).  And I try to avoid gluten and dairy.  It’s just easier to pick something up at Trader Joe’s.

But, over the past month I’ve had the desire to cook.  I made a casserole out of left overs in the fridge. It was really good (and I’m not the only one who ate it!).  I made the mac and cheese casserole tonight for our Thanksgiving dinner. And I’m making brownies (from scratch) and maybe fudge (for the first time) tomorrow. Maybe it’s the holidays or maybe it’s my desire to not starve that’s driving me to cook. I’m not sure.  But if my friends keep letting me use them as guinea pigs, I’ll keep cooking.

Give me a year…

But my kitchen will NEVER look like that.

I’m getting out and rocking the vote! Make sure you do the same. And please remember that voting for your city council members is just as important as voting for the president.

The pools just opened in CA and I’m ready! But, I’ll be sure to wear my Obama button after I drop my ballot into that box.
